I stand for a more balanced, connected and thriving future.
I’m delighted to confirm my nomination for Northland Regional Council (NRC) in the Bay of Islands – Whangaroa ward, Northland.
Local Government is currently undergoing major reforms, which are long overdue. I believe significant change is coming and is required. Thus, the next term will require some big thinking, agile approaches, along with courageous leadership that ensures our local voice is not just retained but embraced.
I am one of these leaders.
I am in full support of NRC’s mission of working together to create a healthy environment, strong economy and resilient communities. My personal vision is that Te Tai Tokerau Northland becomes a shining light on how we care for our people and our place. We lead the way.

Five Key Action Areas |
As a strong community voice and strategist, I will advocate for more action in five key areas. These are underpinned by my belief that all is connected and interrelated – both people and place. We are not separate from one another, rather a valuable part of the whole.

Experience |
My time as Deputy Mayor of the Far North from 2013 – 2019, along with other roles within local and central government, has provided me with extensive experience and understanding of both the systems and the wider environment in which they operate.
A huge localism advocate, I know that community-led and government-enabled is the best way forward. I’m focused on building and strengthening relationships, acting as a bridge between peoples, government and communities. I support local communities leading change in their own backyards and the empowerment of Northlanders to take action in ways that will encourage more care, health and prosperity for now and future generations. There are many challenges moving forward, both known and unknown. It’s going to take courage, respect and a collective approach to address these. As an unashamedly big picture, hope-filled change agent, I am committed to finding innovative and practical solutions for a more balanced, connected future that supports our people, place and planet thriving. |
